Zenia G. Vermeesch, 55, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, March 13, 2008 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA following a long illness battling COPD.
She was born on October 31, 1952 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of John L. and Lillie Davis Vermeesch.
Zenia lived in Keokuk all her life and graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1972.
She had been employed at Bridgeway until recently. Zenia was an avid collector of dolls and bright beautiful items. Her favorite color was pink. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by three sisters, Norma Steffensmeier and her husband Dale of Keokuk, Betty Knight and her husband Bill of Elvaston, IL, and Francis Stark of Winona, MN, two brothers, Earl Vermeesch and his wife Annie and Perry Vermeesch all of Keokuk, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters, Gale Barrows, Patsy Best, Mary Burdess, Ruth Arend and Evelyn Vermeesch, a brother, John Stark and two brothers in infancy.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Scandinavian cemetery in rural Summittville, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
Memorials were established for the American Lung Association.
