E. Wynola "Pete" Kayser, 92, died Thursday December 20, 2012 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born in Alexandria, MO on August 27, 1920 the daughter of James and Susan Corder Mortimer. She married Frank Jones who preceded her in death during World War II where he was awarded a Silver Star. She later married George Kayser on November 16, 1945 in Keokuk and he was the recipient of three bronze battle stars while serving in the Army during WW II. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1979. She had been employed at Dryden's in Keokuk before retiring in 1960. Pete enjoyed being with her tom cats. She always had a helping hand for anyone. She loved watching Court TV, murder mysteries, and Fox News. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading, fishing and hunting and doing yard work. She is survived by a son, Bill Kayser and his wife Mary Jo of Keokuk, IA, two daughters Nancy Northup and her husband Roland of Nauvoo, IL, Penny Higgins and her husband of Ft. Madison, IA, a sister Norma V. Jones of Keokuk, IA, twelve grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Bud Mortimer, grandson Timmy Varner, and great granddaughter Heather Myers. Pete donated her body to the University of Iowa Department of Anatomy for Medical Research. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Keokuk National Cemetery.
