Obituary

Wilma L. Walter, 92, of Argyle, IA died Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at her home. She was born January 13, 1919 the daughter of John and Olia Comstock Stockwell. On October 29, 1938 she was united in marriage to John O. Walter, Sr. in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on March 20, 2008. She had worked at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA, the Iowa Ammunition Plant and the Donnellson Nursing Home. Wilma was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church in rural Argyle, IA. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and made delicious donuts and pies. Wilma loved to spend time with her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Wilma is survived by two daughters, Shirley Happs and her husband Bob of Donnellson, IA, Deborah Juel of Montgomery, TX, one son, John O. Walter, Jr. and his wife Mary of Argyle, IA, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Hubert Stockwell and his wife Alta of Texas. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Michael Walter, four sisters, Ruby Fowler, Dorothy Ensminger Bertha Roseberry and Edith Sheffler and four brothers, Floyd Stockwell, Earl Stockwell, Leo Stockwell and Jessie Stockwell. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Melrose United Methodist Church in rural Argyle, IA with Reverend John Abraham officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to Melrose United Methodist Church in rural Argyle, IA.
