Wilma L. Snider, 85 of Keokuk, IA died Friday August 17, 2012 at the Keokuk Area Hospital, Keokuk, IA. She was born on September 1, 1926 the daughter of Clayton and Zella Holman Bowen. On August 24, 1946 she was united in marriage to John M. Snider, Jr. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1980. Wilma graduated from the Field Kinley High School in Coffeyville, KS, and later received her college degree and took advanced courses from Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. For several years she taught business courses at the former Cardinal Stritch High School in Keokuk and was asked to supervise the DECA program at Keokuk High School. She also taught business courses at Robert Morris College when that school was located in Carthage, IL. Wilma always enjoyed visiting with her former students and colleagues. She is survived by one son, the Rev. Stephen B. Snider and his wife Irene of Wynnewood (Philadelphia) PA, one daughter, Susan Meisinger and her husband Dan of Greenville, IL, and two grandchildren, Matthew Snider of San Diego, CA and Stephen J. Snider of San Francisco, CA, and her special friend and care-giver, Meg Oliver Mills and special friends, Max and Laurie Mendenhall all of Keokuk. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Lloyd Bowen and a sister, Betty Beisly. At her request there will be no visitation or service. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS. Memorial donations may be made to the Hoerner YMCA, Keokuk, IA in her memory.
