William R. Stubbs, 79, of West Burlington, IA died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at the Klein Center, Burlington, IA. He was born on December 8, 1930 in Burlington, IA the son of Harry James and Sarah Hodges Stubbs. On March 25, 1950 he was united in marriage to Patty Patterson in Burlington, IA. William was employed at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, IA before his retirement in 1994. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Burlington, IA. William enjoyed going hunting and fishing and was an avid reader. He is survived by two daughters, Terri Stubbs and Dick Salveggio of St. Charles, MO and Meribeth Bauer and her husband Larry of Burlington, IA., one sister, Sarah Ellen Sacco of Rock Island, IL, three grandchildren Alisa Knoke, Jayden Bauer and Sarah Salveggio, two great grandchildren, Nicholas Knoke and Cara Knoke. William was preceded in death by his parents, one son Nicholas Stubbs, and two brothers, Harry Stubbs, Jr and John Stubbs. Graveside services were held at 10 A.M. Monday, March 15, 2010 at the Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington, IA with Chaplain David Plooster officiating. Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA is in charge of arrangements.
