William R. Meyer, 96, of Jefferson, IA formerly of Chicago, IL died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Greene County Medical Center, Jefferson, IA. He was born on February 7, 1914 in Aurora, IL the son of Alvin and Myrtle Reynolds Meyer. He first married Margaret David. He was later united in marriage to Marie Wisniewski Pierce on December 30, 1961 in Chicago, IL. She preceded him in death on May 17, 2000. Bill resided in Chicago all his life until moving to Jefferson, IA in 1998. He had worked at the Hammond Organ Company in Chicago for over 25 years retiring in 1969. After moving to Jefferson he became a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Jefferson. He was also a member of the Calvin Park - Willing Masonic Lodge # 1075 in Chicago, IL. Bill enjoyed reading and especially enjoyed going to horse races. He is survived by three sons: Alvin Meyer and his wife Kathi of Jefferson, IA, Gary Meyer and his wife Leslie of Pickett, WI, and Ed Meyer and his wife Peggy of Las Vegas, NV, 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010 at the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Arlington Heights, IL Memorials may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church or the Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson, IA.
