William George Deck, 79, of Keokuk, IA passed away Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, Iowa.
He was born on November 8, 1928 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Millard and June Swift Deck. On September 13, 1950, William was united in marriage to Rosemary McCready. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter Kathy Schreck of Keokuk, IA, three sons, William Deck, Jr. of Keokuk, IA, Anthony Deck of Keokuk, IA and Steven Deck of Keokuk, IA, six grandchildren, Ashley Deck, Kayla Hatfield, Jacob Deck, Rebecca Deck, Michael Todd Stevenson and Steven Deck, Jr., one great-grandchild, Payton Baldwin, two brothers, Donald Deck of Ft. Madison, IA and Larry Deck of Keokuk, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, Bryce Baldwin, two sisters, Marlene Stamper and Elaine Huston, three brothers, Millard, Stanley Nicky Deck and his parents.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict.
Bill had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA for thirty-one years, retiring in 1988.
He was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk and the American Legion Post #41.
Bill loved to garden and grew the best tomatoes in town. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and collecting coins.
A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 20 at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
