Wes Rose, 67, of Keokuk, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington, Iowa. on October 6, 2025. Born on October 22, 1957, in Keokuk to Robert and Beverly "Tootie" (Lewis) Rose, Wes lived a vibrant life filled with passion, curiosity, and connection.
On August 11, 1978, Wes was united in marriage to Anne (Kelly). Together they welcomed one daughter, Nicole "Nikki" (Rose) Wilsey. Though they later divorced, their shared journey remained a meaningful part of Wes's life.
Wes had many passions that brought him joy throughout the years. He was an avid sports fan—especially loyal to the Minnesota Vikings—a dedicated rock hunter and collector, and he never passed up a good night at the casino. His career was rooted in construction and heavy equipment operation, and he spent many years as co-owner of the family business, Keokuk Contractors.
To know Wes was to love him. He never met a stranger and never missed the chance to strike up a conversation. His warmth, humor, and ability to "talk your ear off" made him unforgettable to all who crossed his path.
Later in life, Wes found true happiness with his life partner, Julie (Russell), who brought immense joy and love into his world. Through Julie, Wes gained a bonus kids, Shy (Jeremy) Matlock, and Zack (Carley) Russell and five cherished bonus grandchildren: Paisley, Avery, Zander and Kamden and Bentley.
Wes also had four step-grandchildren: Trent Wilsey, Corrine Wilsey, Ashton Wilsey-Monroe, and Derek Wilsey.
He is survived by his daughter Nikki (Jimmy) Wilsey; his father Robert "Bob" Rose; two brothers, Guy (Kathy) Rose and Donnie Rose, Sr.; and many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Wes was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Beverly (Lewis) Rose, on October 10, 2015.
A remembrance ceremony was held at Crossview Fellowship at 2:00 PM on Friday, October 10th, followed by a celebration of life at Chintz's in Keokuk. All who knew and loved Wes are welcome to attend and share memories of a life well lived.
