Wayne Youngquist, 77, of Montrose, IA, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the West Point Care Center in West Point, IA. He was born on December 19, 1935 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Clarence and Flossie Kirchner Youngquist. On October 8, 1956, Wayne was united in marriage to Sally Ginsberg in Keokuk. She preceded him in death on April 26, 2012. Wayne graduated from Keokuk High School. He was a member of the Joppa Masonic Lodge in Montrose. Wayne was a life-long crop farmer and loved the land. For him there was nothing more beautiful than his view across the fields. He also had a great love for horses all his life. He showed horses and had raised draft horses at one time. He passed on his love of horses to some of his grandchildren. Wayne also enjoyed doing carpentry work. Wayne was devoted to his family and always made them a priority in his life. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he treasured the time he spent with them. He left to those he loved many special memories and stories to share. He is survived by two daughters, Kim Moore and Layna Larson both of Sumner, IA, one son, Wayde Youngquist of Montrose, grandchildren, Nathan Moore of Fredericksburg, IA, Dana Youngquist and Derek Youngquist both of Montrose, Kara Larson and Ashley Larson both of Sumner, IA and two great-granddaughters, Kaylee Stark of Montrose and Lee Ann Moore of New Hampton, IA. He was preceded in death by one sister, Faye Youngquist. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4th, 2013 at the Scandinavian Cemetery in rural Argyle with Pastor Doug Horner officiating. A Masonic Service was held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the West Point Care Center.
