Obituary

Walter G. Strowig, 91, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at the Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA. He was born August 21, 1914 in Meeme, Manitowoc County, Wisconsin the son of Herman and Minna Gerbing Strowig. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Walter was united in marriage to Myrtle Fish Roeglin on November 30, 1945 in St Paul's United Church of Christ in Kahoka, MO. She preceded him in death on November 18, 1993. He has resided in Keokuk since 1939. He was employed by Glaser Crandal Co for 15 years in Maintenance and worked in construction for 17 years before his retirement in 1978. Walter was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA and of the American Legion Post #41. He is survived by two step-daughters, Irene Collins of Keokuk, IA and Paulene Summers and John Mattox of Hollister, MO, one step-daughter-in-law, Ruth Roeglin of Keokuk, IA, two brothers, Elmer Strowig and his wife Frances of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, and Hamilton Strowig and his wife Ruth of Kiel, Wisconsin, brother-in-law, Harry Fish of Lakeland, FL, Six grandchildren, Connie Ensminger and her husband Phillip, Gary Collins and his wife Jo, Debbie Daughtry and her husband Lynn, Joni Harris and her husband Bob, Steve Roeglin and his wife Julie and Doug Roeglin and his wife Amy, sixteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, Paul Roeglin, one brother Clarence Strowig and two sisters, Malinda Lensmeier and Norma Werner. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 31, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Rev. John Tyler officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk, IA
