Walter Glen Buckallew, 92, of Kahoka, MO died Monday evening, December 18, 2023 at the Clark County Nursing Home with his family by his side.
He was born on July 29, 1931 in Elmsdale, Montana the son of William and Mabel Dixon Buckallew.
Glen graduated from High School in Unionville, MO.
On August 29, 1958 Glen was united in marriage to Edna Brammer in Clark County, MO and to this union two daughters and one son were born, Susan, Sherri and Brian.
He was a Veteran of the Korean War, proudly serving with the United States Navy. He was also honored to be able to go on the Honor Flight.
Glen was a member of the St. Francisville Masonic Lodge 588 AF and AM in St. Francisville, MO. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry of St. Louis, MO.
He was a member of the Kahoka United Methodist Church, Kahoka, MO.
Glen was a retired employee of the Burlington Northern Railroad and had been a Telegraph Agent Operator of 38 Years. During his free time, one of his many hobbies was buying and tending to his cattle.
He enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, hunting for deer and turkey. He also did some woodworking and showing off his antique tractor in many parades. Most of all he loved being with his family and going on family vacations.
He is survived by his daughter Sherri St.Clair of Kahoka, his son, Brian (Julie) Buckallew of Urbandale, IA. Five grandchildren, Ryan (Nicole) St. Clair, Alexis (Kellen) Schantz of Luray, MO, Paige St.Clair of Kahoka, Megan (Josiah) Linberger of Palmyra, MO, and Nathan Buckallew of Seward, NE. Seven great grandchildren, one sister Phyllis Brummit of Unionville, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife Edna on April 16, 2014, a daughter, Susan Miriam Buckallew, a son-in-law, Doug St.Clair, five sisters, Wineva Haas, Lorene Davis, Ilene Anders, Nadine Anders and Dephine Owens, three brothers, Gene Buckallew, Edward Buckallew and Raymond Buckallew.
Funeral services was held at 10 A.M. Saturday at the Kahoka United Methodist Church with Pastors Shawn McAfee and Denise Moore officiating. Burial with military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard, American Legion Post #192 and the VFW post #4342 was in the Kahoka Cemetery, Kahoka, MO.
Visitation was held after 2 P.M. Friday with family meeting with friends from 6-8 P.M at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka followed by a Masonic Service at 8 P.M.
Memorial may be made to the Clark County Local Cancer Fund.
