Vivian Shuman, 91, of Springfield, IL died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born February 15, 1919 in Clark County, Missouri the daughter of James Alan and Virginia Louise Glisan Shuman. She attended Clark County Schools and graduated from Gem City Business College, Quincy, IL in 1940. Miss Shuman was employed by Louden Machinery Company in Fairfield, IA from November 1940 to October 1943 and than the FBI in Chicago and Springfield, IL for more than 50 years from October 1943 until her retirement in May of 1994. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield, IL. She also belonged to Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Columban Fathers, Scared Heart Living, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, AARP, Adopt-a-Pet, Animal Protective League, Tree House Animal League and Doris Day Animal League. She is survived two brothers, Robert Shuman and his wife Ruth of Keokuk, IA, John Shuman and his wife Willa of Kahoka, MO, a sister, Mekey Laffoon and her husband Gene of Lebanon, MO along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers in infancy. Mass of Christian burial was held 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Wayland,MO. Burial was in the Forest Grove Cemetery in Canton, Missouri. Memorials may be made to Adopt-a-Pet, Animal Protective League or Tree House Animal League.
