Verlan Stevens, 56, of Keokuk, IA died Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born on April 18 1956, in Kirksville, MO, the son of Verlan Stevens Sr. and Letha Bell Reed. Verlan loved to be outdoors hunting and fishing, as well as junking. He is survived by his two daughters, Lisa Stevens and boyfriend Jesse Smith and Tammi McLaughlin and her husband Dennis both of Keokuk, one son, Corey Dreier of Fort Dodge, IA, two granddaughters, Letha Stevens and Makayla McLaughlin of Keokuk, a grandson, Dakota McLaughlin of Keokuk, his father Verlan Stevens, Sr. of Peoria, IL, two brothers, James Stevens Sr. and his wife Janet of Keokuk, and Lewis Arthur Stevens of Missouri, three sisters, Shirley Stevens, Nancy Stevens and her husband Stacy Bell all of Keokuk and Laurie Stevens of Peoria, IL, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, his companion, Sharon Heidemann, a nephew, Jack Stevens and five sisters. Memorial services were held 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 4th, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.
