Vergie Iola Oehmigen, 92, of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born on December 19, 1922 in Williamstown, Missouri, the daughter of Everett and Iola Jane Hawkins Trent. On February 23, 1946, Vergie was united in marriage to John William Oehmigen. He preceded her in death on January 20, 2005. She loved to garden and grew beautiful flowers and had a wonderful vegetable garden. She was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast and also enjoyed reading. Most of all Vergie enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children. She is survived by her son, Ron Oehmigen of Jamesville, NY, two daughters, Hedy Sturgeon of Keokuk and Joan Ellison of Bayard, IA and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was also preceded in death by one daughter, Linda Lowrey, one great-granddaughter, Amanda Ellison, one brother, Charles Trent and one sister, Billy Sturgeon. There will be no services at this time.
