Veda Irene Hohl Wyatt, 90 of Keokuk, IA, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at the River Hills Village in Keokuk, IA. She was born on July 4, 1916 on a farm west of Donnellson, IA, the daughter of Alfred and Bertha Nelson Hohl. On June 6, 1940, Veda was united in marriage to William Henry Wyatt. He preceded her in death on August 5, 1988. Veda had spent most of her married life on a farm on Johnson St. Road west of Keokuk, IA. She had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk for eleven years. She was a member of the Melrose United Methodist Church of rural Keokuk, IA and a member of the Melrose Women's Society. She was also a member of the Keokuk Garden Club, Retired Teachers, the Retiree's Club of Sheller Globe and Arts and Crafts. Veda loved to garden and grow flowers and she enjoyed taking care of her cats. She is survived by three daughters, Shirley Overholser of Falcon, CO, Virginia Hall of Colorado Springs, CO and Mary Whipp of Peoria, IL, eleven grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Sylvia Orndoff and her husband Charles of Burlington, IA, one brother, Dwight Hohl of Keokuk, IA, one sister-in-law Laura Marie Reem of Keokuk, and several cousins. She was also preceded in death by her son, Dale Wyatt, two sisters-in-law, Edna Wyatt and Mae Wyatt and one great-granddaughter, Emily Lofthus. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend John Abraham officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
