Van Allen, 73, of Donnellson, IA died Thursday, April 17, 2008 at the Donnellson Manor Care Center, Donnellson, IA. He was born on September 20, 1934 in Oneida, Kentucky the son of Anderson and Lucy Abner Allen. Before his retirement Van was an over the road truck driver for over 45 years. He was an excellent mechanic, enjoyed fishing and barbecuing. Van is survived by one daughter, Casey Allen of Keokuk, IA, four grandchildren, Jenna Mae Bridges, Logan Allen, Leurie Allen and Van A. Allen, Jr. one great grandchild, Dylan Muff, five sisters, Fay, Betty, Jessie, Shirley, and Audrey, one brother, Gordon Allen, nieces, nephews and his ever so faithful dog, Buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Van "Andy" Allen, one brother, Earl Allen and one sister, Alma. Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 22 at the Oakhill Cemetery, rural Wayland, MO with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
