Timothy B. Murray, 63, of Keokuk, died Sunday, November 12, 2017 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA.
He was born on October 1, 1954 in Whittier, CA, the son of Gordon R. and Diane H. Atkinson Murray.
Tim was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Mt. Hood.
He had been employed as the Assistant Director of Affairs at the American Heritage Theatre in Kansas City, MO. He had also served on the City Council of Concord, CA.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk.
Tim was a multimedia artist and was blessed with a God given talent in the areas of watercolor, oils, china painting and pottery. He enjoyed public service and served as a councilperson on the Concord, California City Council. One of his favorite sayings was "If you're not going to do a job right, it's not worth doing." Tim had a very kind spirit and was passionate about helping others. Only God would know how many lives he touched over the years. His unique personality and his free spirit helped him have a positive attitude in midst of various adversities.
He is survived by five brothers, Gordon Murray of Monument, CO, Mike Murray of Divide CO, his twin, Chris Murray of South Bend, IN, Doug Doman and Gordon Doman both of Hutchinson, KS and his "mom and dad", Keith & Teri Nelson of Hutchinson, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew, Nicholas Doman.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastor David Turner officiating.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Keokuk.
