Thelma Rose Fox, 84, of Keokuk, IA, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk. She was born on April 4, 1923 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Herbert and Ethel Houston Wooster. On December 4, 1944, Thelma was united in marriage to Harry Earl Fox in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on January 10, 2007. Thelma was a graduate of Keokuk High School. During her high school years she had been employed at Woolworths and Kresge in Keokuk. Later she was employed at Drydens in Keokuk and then worked at the A & P Grocery, Benners/Easter Food and Big G Foods. Thelma also worked as a Home Health Care Aid. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Keokuk and the Sugar Creek Ladies Aid. Thelma enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed cooking crocheting, watching television and working word puzzles. Thelma took comfort from reading her Bible and had read the entire Bible several times. She also was a prayer warrior. She is survived by two daughters, Pamela Strohmaier and her husband Robert of Montrose, IA and Linda Chaknine of Keokuk, IA, two grandchildren, Angela Hogge & her husband Chris and Suzanne Rubio and her husband Alex, six great-grandchildren, Caleb, Abby, Samantha, and Ryder Hogge, Brian Alexander Rubio and Kevin Robert Rubio, one sister-in-law, Betty Coovert of Keokuk, a special niece, Kathy Coovert of Keokuk, special friends who helped care for her, Tim & Ginger Murray of Keokuk and her cat, Lily. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Melanie Rose Strohmaier and a brother in infancy. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Matt Hunt officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Park in Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Keokuk, the Diabetes Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
