Tammy Sapp, 46, of Luray, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.
She was born November 22, 1979, in Keokuk, Iowa, the daughter of Melvin Lester “Hunk” Sapp, Jr., and Patricia Wrieden Sapp.
She was united in marriage to Donald Zinnert, and to this union, a daughter, Kaitlyn, was born. They later divorced. She later shared a relationship with Derek Ray, and together they welcomed a daughter, Hailey.
Tammy was employed at Donnellson Healthcare Center, where she served as housekeeping supervisor and maintenance director.
She loved spending time outdoors, whether she was tending to her flowers, watching butterflies, fishing, or searching for geodes while rock hunting. She enjoyed relaxing around a bonfire in the evenings and had a special place in her heart for animals, especially horses.
Above all else, Tammy’s world revolved around her family, especially her daughters, Kaitlyn and Hailey. She loved being part of their lives, sharing in their activities, and cheering them on in whatever they were doing. The time she spent with her girls was among her most treasured moments. Becoming a grandma to her precious granddaughter, Ellie Mae, brought a new and special kind of happiness to her life, and she cherished this newest addition to her family.
Tammy is survived by her daughters, Kaitlyn Woods (Matthew) of Memphis, Missouri, and Hailey Ray (Caleb Gardner) of St. Louis; her granddaughter, Ellie Mae Woods; her brother, Stacy Sapp of LaGrange; and her niece and nephew, Hunter Sapp and Kennady Sapp.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Francis and Glenna Louis Howell Wrieden; and her paternal grandparents, Melvin L. and Mary Magdeline Morrison Sapp, Sr.
A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the family.
