Tamara "Tami" Rae Nelson, 65 of Keokuk, IA passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at her home.
She was born August 30, 1960 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Leon and Patricia Gambrel Ewart. She graduated from Keokuk High School with the class of 1978 and later attended Southeastern Community College.
On February 16, 1979 Tami was united in marriage to Terry Nelson in Keokuk. He survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Christopher Nelson (Sydra) and Daniel Nelson (Pamela) all of Keokuk, twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her father Leon Ewart of Keokuk, two sisters, Valanda Cummins (Bill) of AR, and Tara Page (Mark) of Montrose, IA, two brothers, Jeffry Ewart (Lora) of Keokuk and Michael Ewart of Clarinda, IA and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia "Patti" Hendricks.
Tami was a member of White Shrine.
She had been employed by Ewart's Fabrication as the office manager until her retirement in 2023.
A creative and caring soul, Tami loved sewing, arts and crafts, and collecting antiques. Her greatest happiness came from making memories with her grandchildren—teaching them to sew, hosting sleepovers, or wrapping them in handmade blankets stitched with love. She cherished every moment with her family and left memories that will live on in their hearts.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
