Stuart Halferty, 89, of Cameron, MO formerly of Revere, MO, died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center, Cameron, MO. He was born on June 27, 1923 in Revere, MO the son of Ray and Clara Savage Halferty. On February 12, 1947 Stuart was united in marriage to Jean Garrels in Kahoka, MO. She preceded him in death on March 5, 2005. Stuart graduated from the Revere High School with the Class of 1941. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country during WW II. His first flight was the Honor Flight on June 23, 2011 where he spent a wonderful day with his son visiting Washington, D.C. Stuart was a member of the Peaksville Christian Church and the American Legion. He had farmed in the Revere, MO area for most of his life and was a very hard working man and loved work. Stuart is survived by one son Jack Halferty and his wife Deborah of Excelsior Springs, MO, one grandson, Clark Halferty and his wife Megan of Lee Summit, MO, two great grandchildren, Kenley and Kemper Halferty, sisters-in-law Ora Halferty of Ft. Madison, IA and Anne Martin of Kahoka, MO, one brother-in-law, Joe Garrels of Kahoka, MO, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by his brother Eugene Halferty, sister-in-law, Mary Garrels and a brother-in-law, Leo Martin. Funeral services were held at 10 A.M. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, MO with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Revere Cemetery, Revere, MO. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Clark County Nursing Home, Clark County Senior Center or the Cameron Veterans Home.
