Obituary

Steven Dale Carter, 55, of Keokuk died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. He was born April 3, 1960 in Keokuk the son of Glenn and Martha Nye Carter. He was united in marriage to Gigi Gregory. They later divorced. Steve graduated from Central Lee High School with the Class of 1978. After graduation he attended Southeastern Community College for auto body repair. He had been employed with Shipley Construction, Ames Construction and Nelson Construction as a cement finisher. He also worked at Henniges and Keokuk Steel Castings. Steve was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes, Nascar, and motocross fan. He especially enjoyed being a flagger for motocross that his son was involved in. His son Steven was his pride and joy and he lived for his son. He also loved children especially his nephews and nieces. He is survived by his son Steven W. Carter of Keokuk, his mother, Martha Carter Puder of Keokuk, two sisters, Sandra Iverson and Nancy (Ron) Rockhold all of Keokuk, a brother, Glenn (Lynn) Carter II of Montrose, along with many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, Keanna Carter, his father, grandparents and step-father, John Puder. Memorial service will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Keokuk Church of Nazarene with Pastor Rob Sanders officiating. Memorials may be made to the family.
