Sidney Wayne Timmons, 92, of Torrance, CA went home to be with the Lord on the morning of Wednesday, December 7, 2011. He was born and raised on his family's farm near Williamstown Missouri on October 24, 1919. The son of James Emery and Louretta Spurgeon Timmons. He was the youngest of five children. His siblings were Margaret May McClain, Ruby Virginia English, Adrian Lee Timmons and Omer John Timmons. He moved to Peru, Nebraska to go college where he met Lillie Mae Collins. They both attended Peru State College. They were married on July 6, 1940 and were married for 57 years. They lived in several towns in Nebraska where their two sons, James Truman Timmons in 1942 and Tracy Wayne Timmons in 1948 were born. The family moved to California in 1953. Sidney was drafted into the Navy and served as a mailman at the naval base in San Diego CA from 1944 to 1946. He was a State Farm agent in Torrance California from 1964-1985. He enjoyed 26 years in retirement. He was a member of the Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Masonic Temple and Shriners. Lillie retired in 1978 and that is the year they got their first motorhome. They enjoyed many years of travel until her passing in 1997. He was very fortunate to enjoy many years of friendship with his dear friend Dorothea Hoskins. Their RV travels included trips to see his family and friends in Missouri. He leaves behind a son, Tracy Timmons and his wife Vicki, two grandsons of James Truman Timmons, Jon and Terry along with many nieces and nephews. Graveside services with military rites will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at the Providence Cemetery in Williamstown, Missouri with Rev. Joseph Pike officiating. A fellowship luncheon will follow the graveside services at the Providence Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Providence Cemetery. Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka, Missouri is in charge of local arrangements.
