Obituary

Shirley Mae Paris, 61, of Warsaw, IL, died Saturday, January 10, 2009 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born on November 5, 1947 in Keokuk, IA, the daughter of Clarence and Erzela B. Hill Freetly. On March 22, 1969, Shirley was united in marriage to John Paris, Sr. in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Toni Miller of Keokuk, IA, two sons, John Paris, Jr. of Warsaw, IL and David Paris of E. Moline, IL, one sister, Scherry McMeen and her husband Brent of Orlando, FL, one foster brother, Joe Ward of Ft. Madison, IA, one brother-in-law, Bob Paris and his wife Faye of Sparta, TN, seven grandchildren, Alex Paris, Beau Paris, McKenzie Paris, Katelyn Miller, Blake Miller, Bryce Miller and Baby John Paris III, several nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings in infancy, one brother, Ronnie Freetly and one uncle, Russel Hanks. Shirley was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Keokuk. She had attended the Evangelical Free Church in Keokuk for many years where she served as the church bus driver. Shirley loved to go horseback riding and her passion was making trips to the casinos. She was a good friend to many and enjoyed talking with her friends every day on the phone. However, the greatest love in her life was her family and she was devoted in caring for each and every one of them. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy and she treasured the time she spent with them. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton, IL with Pastor Brett Laszlo officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.
