Shirley A. Justus, 80, of Elvaston, IL died Thursday morning, November 26, 2015 at her home.
She was born June 20, 1935 in Sonora Township the daughter of Elwin and Forrest Starr-Simon. On November 26, 1965 she was united in marriage to James E. Justus. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons, Kevin Lee (Jennifer) of Washington, IL, Tim Lee (Michele) of Richton Park, IL and James Justus of Warren, MI, two daughters, Diana Lee Allen (Perry) of Hamilton, IL and Tammy Justus Merritt (Brad) of Clayton, IL two sisters, Maxine Carlton (Ray) of Deland, IL and Evelyn Hempen (Bill) of Elvaston, IL four grandsons, Daniel Lee of Park Ridge, IL, Ryan Lee (Megan) of Park Ridge, IL,Brennan Lee (Rachel) of Genevich, Germany and Ethan Merritt of Clayton, IL, five granddaughters, Morgan Lee of Washington, IL, Megan Lee of Galesburg, IL, Melanie Lee of Richton Park, IL, Makenna Merritt of Clayton, IL and Keagan Merritt of Clayton, IL and three great-grandchildren, Beckett Lee of Park Ridge, IL, Henry Lee of Park Ridge, IL and Eleanor Lee of Genevich, Germany.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Robert Lee and one stillborn granddaughter, Melany Lee.
Shirley graduated from Hamilton High School Hamilton, IL with the Class of 1953.
She has been employed through the years at Hancock County Hospital, Journal Printing and Elvaston Middle School.
She was a member of Elvaston Community Church where she served as a deacon, elder and a Sunday school teacher and Christian Women's Club. She was a Boy Scout Den Mother and also a member of TOPS.
Shirley was a skilled seamstress loved quilting and sewing. She had an unwavering and deep faith in God and spent time with her Lord and savior daily. Shirley adored her family and friends and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren.
Funeral services wereheld at 11 a.m., Monday, November 30, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Pastors Doug Campbell and Ron Leonard officiating. Burial was in the Elvaston Cemetery in Elvaston, IL.
Memorials may be made to the Elvaston Community Church Sunday School and Church Camp or to Wounded Warriors.
