Shirley Marilyn Hechler, 81 of Quincy, IL formerly of Keokuk died Friday, December 23, 2016 at Sunset Home in Quincy, IL. She was born February 22, 1935 in Hull, IL the daughter of Charles and Florence Wasson Keim. On May 11, 1957 she was united in marriage to Ralph W. Hechler. He preceded her in death on February 18, 2000. Shirley graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1953. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Quincy, IL and formerly a member of St. Mary's Church in Keokuk. Shirley enjoyed being a homemaker and spent her life making a wonderful home for her husband and children. She always put her family first and was available to help and share in the school and church activities. She is survived by two daughters, Diann Hechler of Quincy, IL and Deb Stotts of Quincy, IL, two sons, Dale Hechler and his wife Ann of Bettendorf, IA and Doug Hechler and his wife Tina of Union, KY, seven grandchildren, Olivia Stotts, Kara Stotts, Charlie Hechler, Sam Hechler, Chase Hechler, Mark Savage and Nick Savage, numerous nieces and nephews and one sister-in-law, Mary Jane Lambert and her husband John of Johnston, IA. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Virginia De Jaynes and Pauline Hamilton, two brothers, Delbert Vrell and Bernard Keim and one sister-in-law, Sally Petty. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at the All Saints Catholic in Keokuk with Father Lathrop officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery kn Keokuk. Memorials may be made to the Sunset Home in Quincy.
