Shirley Mae Hart, 77, of Montrose, IA, died Monday, July 04, 2005 at her home. She was born May 26, 1928 in Keokuk, IA, a daughter of Frank and Ethel Mae Ainsworth Thoeny. She married William J. Hart on October 12, 1946 in Keokuk, IA. He preceded her in death on February 11, 1998. She had worked for the Ambulance Service as a dispatcher, at Shellor Globe for 10 years and later at Shaffer Pen for 12 years as an inspector, retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Victory Faith Community Church. She strongly looked at her church as a big part of her life and part of her family. Shirley was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and the Montrose Historical Society. She enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, sewing, making quilted albums, and spool dolls. Shirley enjoyed being outdoors and watching her hummingbirds. She liked going to yard sales. Shirley loved her cat "Furbie" and her Chihuahua "Little Bitt." She spent many hours doing puzzles with her mother. Shirley was an avid NASCAR fan and especially loved watching Dale Earnhardt Jr. She cherished the time she spent with her family. She is survived by her mother, Ethel Mae Thoeny of Keokuk, IA, one daughter, Barbara Hart of Montrose, IA, one son, William C. Hart and his wife Kathleen of Dallas City, IL, two adopted daughters, Mary Jane Davis and Linda Stark, both of Keokuk, IA, seven foster children, five grandchildren, David Hoadley, Robert Hoadley, Scott Johnson, Jonathan Hart and Cynthia Hart, five great grandchildren, Tony, Luke, Krystal, Chip and Elizabeth, three great great grandchildren, Jonathan, Blake and baby Johnson, two sisters, Linda Rockenbach of Keokuk, IA and Janie Jo Morgan of Warsaw, IL, two brothers, Frank John Thoeny, Jr. of Keokuk, IA and Ron Thoeny of Myrtle Point, OR, and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her father and one sister in infancy. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Friday, July 8, 2005 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Roger Welty officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery. A memorial was established for the Victory Faith Community Church.
