Shirley Dresden, 77 of Keokuk, IA died Sunday, June 9, 2013 at her home. She was born July 29, 1935 in Keokuk the daughter of Clyde and Thelma Smith Teller. On October 9, 1955 she was united in marriage to Clarence "Sonny" Dresden in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2004. Shirley graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1953. She had been employed at Drydens/ Sheller Globe/ UTA in Keokuk for thirty years. She was a member of the Southside Boat Club in Keokuk for many years. Shirley enjoyed working jig saw puzzles, crossword puzzles and collecting oil lamps and wind chimes. She had a green thumb when it came to her flower garden and loved spending time with her cat. Shirley was an avid reader and Chicago Cubs fan and loved to watch her boys race cars. She is survived by one daughter, Sheryl Lucey of St. Petersburg, FL, two sons, Doug Dresden and his wife Alicia of Keokuk and Rodger Dresden and his wife Tracy of Keokuk, six grandchildren, Angie Walls, Steve Walls, Stephanie Dresden, Jennifer Dresden, Lacey Dresden and Kenny Dresden, four step-grandchildren, Tommy, Jeremy and Tiffany Schrader and Sarah Elder and six great-grandchildren, Carmela, Roman and Jude Lueders, Ethan Dresden, Lexie Symmonds and Makenzie Sapp. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Clarence Dresden Jr. at birth and Kenny Dresden. Memorial services were held at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 15th, 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Keokuk Veterans Memorial.
