Shirley Jean Brisby, 73, of Montrose, IA died Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
She was born on July 6, 1937 in Hamilton, IL the daughter of Richard and Goldie Keller Taylor. On June 17, 1956 Shirley was united in marriage to Jack Brisby in Hamilton, IL. He survives.
She is also survived by one son, Craig Alan Brisby and his wife Bonnie of Montrose, IA, one daughter, Lori Ann Runge and her husband Chris of Garland, TX, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three sisters, Madeline Rickert of Montrose, IA and Luella Bailey and her husband J.G of Hamilton, IL and Sharon Taylor of Hamilton, IL, and one brother, Raymond Taylor and his wife Doris of Hamilton, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert "Pete" Taylor and Marvin Taylor, and two sisters, Marge Showers and Dorothy Guymon.
Shirley graduated from the Hamilton High School with the Class of 1956.
She had been employed as a cook at Central Lee Community Schools in Donnellson, IA for 18 years. She retired in 1996.
She was a member of the Montrose Presbyterian Church and sang in the St. Barnabas Choir in Montrose, IA.
Shirley enjoyed working crossword puzzles and having coffee and visiting with the ladies.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2011at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Dr. Jim Eads officiating. Burialwas in the Montrose Cemetery.
