Shirley Ann Bell, 80 of Knox City, MO, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home. She was born August 20, 1936 in Keokuk the daughter of Oscar and Louise Deitrich Hammel. On July 14, 1959 she was united in marriage to George D. Bell in Carthage, IL. He preceded her in death on July 1, 1992. Shirley kept her mind busy by working crossword, word search puzzles and playing bingo. She was an excellent cook and made meals for her family and friends to enjoy. Shirley loved all varieties of flowers. Her grandchildren were the sunshine of her life and she loved spending time with them. She is survived by four sons, Robert Tripp of Keokuk, Kevin Tripp (Alice) of Keokuk, Stacey Bell (Nancy) of Keokuk and Charles Bell (Brenda) of Dallas, GA, four daughters, Carolyn Tripp of Keokuk, Mary Starr (David) of Labelle, MO, Lori Chatelain of Knox City, MO and Penny Corbin of Knox City, MO, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and one brother, Charles Hammel (Carol) of Hamilton, IL. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Bob Hammel, Bill Hammel and Lester Hammel and two sisters, Virginia LeMaster and Betty Morgan. A funeral service was held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk . Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
