Sheryl Heavin

Sheryl Marie Heavin, 62, of Wayland, MO, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at her home. She was born on July 28, 1950 in Nevada, MO, the daughter of Donald Gene and Sarah Waneta Bigelow. Sheryl graduated from Keokuk High School. She followed her dream of being a hair stylist and graduated from Dayton Cosmetology College in Keokuk. She loved her job at Regis Hair Salon in Keokuk where she was employed for 10 years. Sheryl had a special talent as a cosmetologist and took pride in caring for her clients. She enjoyed reading, watching movies and singing Karaoke. Sheryl was a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and made sure each one of them felt special. She is survived by one son, Josh Alan Mayes and his wife Trulie of Montrose, one daughter, Jaime Lyn Mayes of Keokuk, four grandchildren, Reece Alan Mayes, Seth Dean Mayes, Caitlyn Marie Mayes and Emily Nicole Mayes, her mother, Sarah Bigelow of Keokuk, two brothers, Donald Gene Bigelow, Jr. and his wife Veronica and William Dean Bigelow all of Keokuk, one sister, Patsy and her husband Herb of Carthage, MO and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, one daughter, Pamela Jo Cooper and two half-brothers, A Gathering of Remembrance for family and friends was held on Monday, April 29th 2013 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to her grandchildren's Education Fund.
