Sharon K. Nichols, 66, of Kahoka died Sunday, November 27, 2022 at her home in Kahoka.

She was born December 18, 1955, the daughter of Joseph and Connie Roberson Shelton in Fagus, MO. She graduated from Travis High School in Austin, TX with the Class of 1975. On August 17, 1985, she was united in marriage to Gregg Nichols in Mt. Sterling, IA. He survives.

She is also survived by a step-daughter, Melissa Frederick (Adam) of Downing, MO, her feline grandchildren, two brothers, Joseph Shelton, Jr (Chu-li) of San Antonio, TX and Gary Shelton (Cindy) of Poplar Bluff, MO, her twin sister, Shirley Shelton of Poplar Bluff, MO along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard Shelton.

Over the years Sharon worked numerous jobs including, Dunkin Donuts at the airport café in Austin, TX, a school crossing guard and a home health aide.

She enjoyed playing softball, bowling and riding horses. She had an amazing collection of coins she had collected over the years. She was never seen without her four-legged canine by her side.

A funeral service was held at 9 a.m. on November 30, 2022, at the Vigen Memorial Home in Kahoka with Kevin Eagle officiating. Burial was held in the Harness Cemetery in Mt. Sterling, IA.

Visitation was held from 5 – 7 p.m. on November 29, 2022, at the funeral home with the family meeting with friends at that time.
