Sharon Jeanette Duncan, 79, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Keokuk, died Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at her home.
She was born on March 20, 1945 in Iowa City, IA, the daughter of Francis Richard and Glenna Lois (Howell) Wrieden.
On November 23, 1964, Sharon was united in marriage to Daniel Monroe Duncan in Wayland, MO. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2018.
She had been employed as a cook at George Web Restaurant in Milwaukee, WI, Keokuk Convalescent Center, The Old World Restaurant, Walmart deli and also worked for Gordy Houston at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant.
Sharon was a wonderful cook and made the best fried chicken. She loved making different kinds of pies for her family and friends. She loved to play bingo and grow roses and tomatoes. Sharon was always willing to lend a hand to anyone when help was needed. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and family and took care of a few of her grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Frances Antwi (Ransford) of Cedar Rapids, IA, three sons, Daniel Duncan (Kymm) of Manitowoc, WI, Joe Duncan (Laurie) of Lacrosse, WI and David Duncan of Cedar Rapids, fourteen grandchildren, thirty-three great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Ed "Jake" Wrieden (Carey) of Keokuk, Terry Wrieden of Keokuk, Mike Wrieden (Robin) of Quincy, IL, and Chuck Wrieden (Tracy) of Keokuk, and four sisters-in-law, Sheldia Wrieden, Mary Wrieden, Lynda Wrieden and Pam Wrieden all of Keokuk.
Besides her husband, Sharon was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Charlyne Sapp, six brothers Francis (Butch) Wrieden, John Wrieden, Richard (Dick) Wrieden, Lenny Wrieden, Robert Wrieden & James Daniel (Moe) Wrieden, one granddaughter, Amy Cooper, two nieces, Bobby Jo Wrieden & Patty Wrieden, two nephews, Ronald and Donald Wrieden, one great-niece, Danielle Wrieden and one great- great- nephew Cade Wear.
A Gathering of Remembrance was held Monday, December 16, from 2– 4 pm at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with family meeting with friends at that time.
Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family.
