Sharen Kay Knowles, 73 of Keokuk died Sunday, November 8, 2015 at the Cedar Ridge Health & Rehab Center in Lebanon, IL. She was born September 7, 1942 in Unionville, MO the daughter of Kenneth Eugene and Olive Lorene Mullenix Thorn. On March 28, 1964 she was united in marriage to Louis R. Knowles in Keokuk. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2015. Sharen graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1960. She had been employed at Thomas Trucking and later at Keokuk Credit Bureau until her retirement in 2004. Sharen enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and canning and cooking her harvest. She loved to read all types of books. She enjoyed watching television, especially the Western Channel, CSI and Law and Order. She is survived by two sons, Robert Knowles of Atlanta, GA and Kevin Knowles and his wife Tammy of Shiloh, IL, four grandchildren, Angela Dandridge (Brandon), Brittney Foran, Chase Knowles and Devlyn Knowles, two sisters, Karen Thorn of Keokuk and Katherine Burgess of Keokuk, her mother, Olive Thorn of Keokuk and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also preceded in death by her father. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial was in the Sandusky Cemetery in Sandusky, IA. Memorials may be made to Sandusky Cemetery. .
