Sara Lillian VanAusdall, 96, of Montrose, IA died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital, Ft. Madison, IA. She was born December 18, 1909 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of John and Emily Josephine Pearson Peterson. She married Marion Everett VanAusdall on March 24, 1931 in Montrose, IA. He preceded her in death on April 7, 1998. Sara was a graduate of the Keokuk Senior High School in Keokuk, IA. She had resided in Montrose for the last 75 years. Sara was a faithful member of the First Lutheran Church in Keokuk, IA and a member of the Esther Circle of the Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking. She loved to attend church as long as she was able. Sara enjoyed visiting people in the hospital and nursing home as she was a very caring person. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Everett VanAusdall and his wife Betty of Ft. Madison, IA and Marvin VanAusdall and his wife Myra of Bella Vista, Arkansas, two daughters, Janet Weirather and her husband Carl Jr. of Montrose, IA, and Martha Rudd and her husband George of Montrose, IA. Four grandsons, Lane and Paul Weirather, Kyle VanAusdall and Jason VanAusdall, three grand daughters, Deverie Rudd, Moni Hart and Ashley Curiel and Eleven great grandchildren. She was also prededed in death by six sisters and five brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Rev. Terry Mahnke officiating. Burial will be in the Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, IA. Visitation will be held after 1 p.m. Friday with the family meeting with friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. In Lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the First Lutheran Church or the Montrose Health Center.
