Ruth Eleanor Linn Burgess, 94, of Keokuk, IA died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at her daughter's home in Keokuk. She was born on August 14, 1917 in Cantril, Iowa, the daughter of George and Elma White Linn. On December 31, 1948, Ruth was united in marriage to Glenn J. Burgess in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1996. She graduated from Keosauqua High School in Keosauqua, IA with the Class of 1937. In 1939 Ruth moved to Keokuk, IA where she made her home. She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA. Ruth was a devoted homemaker and had lovingly cared for her family. She also assisted her husband working on the farm. Ruth was an avid bowler and bowled with Club 55 Bowling League until 2004. She enjoyed gardening and reading. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano and French harp. Ruth was a loving mother and grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She is survived by three daughters, Sharon Munson and her husband J.R. of Hamilton, IL, Roseanne Sadeghi of Keokuk, IA and Christina (Chris) Kellum and her husband Kevin of Keokuk, IA, one son, Ronald Burgess and his wife Dee of East Peoria, IL, twenty one grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, one nephew whom she raised, Gary Burgess and his wife Julie of Carthage, IL and Gary's three children, whom she thought of as her own grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia "Pat" Hultquist, three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three brothers, Harley, Clarence and Ward Linn, two sisters, Mabel Gilcrest and Leona Blackburn and one nephew whom she raised, Albert A. Burgess. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the Keokuk National Cemetery with Reverend Alex Kloster III. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or HCI Hospice Care Services.
