Rune Langedal, 83, of Keokuk, IA, died Saturday, September 26 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, IA.
He was born on April 27, 1932 in Naustdal, Norway the son of Peder and Anna Kalland Langedal.
On July 24, 1989, Rune was united in marriage to Risa Anderson Howell in Burlington, IA. She survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Torill Ringstad (Ottar) and Elin Furset (Gisle) all of Norway, one son Per Oddne Langedal (Hege) of Norway, two stepchildren, Brent Howell and Beth Howell both of Keokuk, six granddaughters in Norway, two granddaughters in Florida and one granddaughter in Pennsylvania, five great grandsons and one great granddaughter, all of Norway, six sisters, Sigfrid Lindhanson (Svein), Audgunn Langedal, Kristrun Fimland (Karl), Liv Tiegen (Joar), Gunnvor Nygard (Ottar) all of Norway and Magni Personbraten (Knut) of Spain, one sister-in-law, Edith Langedal of Norway, and many nieces in nephews both in Norway and Keokuk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Helga Langedal, one brother
Arnstein Langedal and one step-son, Mark Howell.
Rune was born and raised in Norway. He worked in Norway as a ship builder and welding instructor and also at General Motors.
He moved to the United States in 1986 and made Keokuk his home. He had been employed for several years as the custodian at St. John's Episcopal Church in Keokuk.
He was a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk.
Rune enjoyed landscaping and brickwork and was a very good carpenter.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2015 at the Sunset Memorial Gardens in Keokuk, IA with Bro Bill Hauser.
There will be no visitation.
Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Program at the University of Iowa or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
