Ruby Elizabeth Dray, 81, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, September 28, 2006 at Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
She was born on March 9, 1925 in Kahoka, MO the daughter of Delbert "Bert" and Eliza Bell Rittenhouse. On October 31, 1943, Ruby was united in marriage to Myron Hilton Dray in Kahoka, MO. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Ruby graduated from the Kahoka High School in Kahoka, MO.
She had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA for 32 years, retiring in 1987. She had been an active member of the United Rubber Workers Union and had served as a Union Steward.
She loved to go to the river boat and try her luck at gambling. She also enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas as much as she possibly could. Ruby was a loving mother and grandmother and treasured the times she spent with her family. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Jean Staley of Keokuk, IA, and Susan O'Shea and her husband Michael of Kahoka, MO, two sons, Mike Dray and his wife Judy and Rick Dray all of Keokuk, IA, one sister, Margaret Varner of Keokuk, IA, eleven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son in infancy, Stephen Dray, and three sisters, Elaine Walker, Irene Rubemeyer and Jean Johnson.
A graveside servicewas held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating.
