View Video Tribute Roy S. Rowlett, 68, of Hamilton, IL, died Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington, IA. He was born on April 30, 1939 in Keokuk, IA the son of Levi Rowlett. Roy was united in marriage to Sonnia Nash on December 6, 1969 in Champaign–Urbana, IL. She survives. Other survivors include one daughter, Melissa Karriker and her husband Keith of Virginia Beach, VA, one son, Bill Rowlett and his wife Kelly of Hamilton, IL, four grandchildren, Shyanne and Autumn Karriker and Dylan and Megan Rowlett, three sons from a previous marriage, Roy Lee Protsman, Michael Ray Protsman and William Dean Protsman, and two half-sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents. Roy was employed with Per Mar Security at Metzler Automotive for 10 years before his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the Keokuk Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the computer. Roy received a diploma in Desktop Publishing from Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg, IL on May 11, 2000. Roy was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to spend time playing with his grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday at the Church of the Nazarene in Keokuk with Rev. Dana Jurgens officiating. Burial was in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in rural Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Church of the Nazarene.
