Rowena Lee Meier, 84 of Keokuk died Monday, March 6, 2017 at Lexington Square in Keokuk.
She was born February 4, 1933 in Kahoka, Missouri the daughter of Herman and Ella Cameron Meier.
She graduated from Kahoka High School with the Class of 1950.
For forty seven and a half years she was employed with St. Joseph Hospital and the Keokuk Area Hospital in the housekeeping department. She retired in 1998. Rowena was a member of the St Paul United Church of Christ in Keokuk and a member of the Service Circle at the church.
She is survived by a brother Calvin (Haydee) Meier of Wayland, MO and a sister Betty Szawiel of Keokuk, four nephews, Edward (Karen) Szawiel of Keokuk, Robert (Linda) Szawiel of Keokuk, Bruce Meier of Auburn, WA, Noel Meier of Kahoka and a niece, Judy Price of Elvaston along with several great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother, Mary Etta Fetter, brother in law, Feliks Szawiel and a niece, Barbara Wanizoski.
Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home with Reverend Milo Van Veldhuizen officiating.
Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. with the family meeting with friends at that time.
A Graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka.
Memorials may be made to the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary or to the Kahoka Cemetery.
