Rosemary Anderson, 81, of Keokuk, IA, died Friday, January 27, 2012 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born on March 5, 1930 in Jackson Township, Jones County, IA, the daughter of John and Eileen Aitchison Miller. On March 5, 1952, Rosemary was united in marriage to Donald L. Anderson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, IA. He preceded her in death on October 21, 2000.
Rosemary graduated from Coggon High School in Coggon, IA with the Class of 1949. She received her LPN certification from the Monticello Hospital in Monticello, IA.
She had been employed at Collins Radio in Anamosa and Cedar Rapids for forty years, retiring in 1990. Following retirement, she and Don moved to Keokuk to be closer to their daughter.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA, the United Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union, the Isaac Walton Women's Chapter and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Rosemary loved sewing and had made beautiful blankets for her grandchildren. She enjoyed watching wildlife and birds and feeding the squirrels and deer which wandered into her backyard. Rosemary loved the bright red cardinal and collected anything that had a picture of a red cardinal on it. She also enjoyed the challenge of putting together jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Don and they made several memorable trips to Las Vegas.
Rosemary loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The time she spent with them was priceless and the memories that were made will live on in their hearts forever.
She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Vigen and her companion Theron Hartsock of Keokuk, IA, two grandchildren, Melissa Vigen and her husband Jason Trone of Kahoka, MO and Matthew Vigen and his wife Whittney of Keokuk, IA, three great-grandchildren, Brent and Ryan Tweedy and Kyliee Vigen and her crazy cat, Mabel.
She was preceded in death by one daughter in infancy, Penny Anderson, one sister, Joan Holub, one brother, Bob Miller and her four-legged friend, Barney.
Funeral serviceswere held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor John Raab officiating. Burial was in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
