Obituary

Rosalie McGee, 71, of Hamilton, IL died peacefully Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 30, 1940 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of Samuel and Hattie Orton Howe. On April 22, 1962, Rosalie was united in marriage to Harry Franklin McGee at the Keokuk Assembly of God Church. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Lynn Tweedell and her husband Dirk of Carthage, IL, Linda Atterberg and her husband Jeff of Warsaw, IL, five grandchildren, Brittney Thompson and her husband Cory, Brandi Davis, Michael, Megan and Melissa Atterberg, two step-grandchildren, Dustin and Drew Tweedell, three step-great-grandchildren, Devin Thompson, Madison and Reese Tweedell, two brothers, Truman Howe and his wife Mary Sue of Urbana, IL, Donnie Howe and his wife Gloria of Bushnell, IL, two sisters, Marie Massey and her husband Junior of Hamilton, IL and Beverly Boone and her husband Daniel of Hamilton, IL, several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Pearl Howe, one nephew, Marty Howe, one niece, Judy Selvog, one brother-in-law, Richard McGee and one sister-in-law, Violet Adams. Rosalie graduated from Hamilton High School with the Class of 1959. In her younger years she worked at local restaurants and Keokuk Area Hospital. She then began employment at Methode in Carthage IL and worked there 19 years, retiring in 2000. Following her retirement she provided child care in her home. Rosalie was a member of the Family Bible Church in Carthage, IL. She enjoyed playing Sudoko, putting together jigsaw puzzles and spending time on Facebook . She and her husband enjoyed traveling and made several trips a year to Champaign, IL to visit family. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. Rosalie shared her love with her family by cooking wonderful Sunday dinners and Thanksgiving feasts and was well known for the delicious pies she baked. Her faith was very important to her and reading her Bible was her guidance for life and her daily source of strength A funeral services was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Hamilton, IL with Pastor Tom Spain and Pastor Terry Massey officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton, IL. Memorials may be made to Blessing Hospice or to the family.
