Rosalie Erma Curfman Rakey, 62, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, November 2, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital. She was born on October 19, 1944 in Medill, MO, the daughter of James Henry and Rosalie M. McVeigh Hobb. She first married John Kay. She then married Clarence Curfman and he preceded her in death. On April 28, 2000 Rosalie was united in marriage to Henry E. Rakey in Keokuk, IA. He survives. Other survivors include one son, David Kay and his fiancé Tammie McKay of Keokuk, IA, seven grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild, her mother, Rosalie Hobb of Hamilton, IL, eight sisters, Doris Bagent of Ft. Madison, IA, Shirley Hobb of Denver, IL, Karen Bryant and her husband Roger of Keokuk, IA, Ada Johnson and her husband Mike of Blandensville, IL, Mary Bennett and her husband Henley, Gladys Pearce and her husband Jerry, Nancy Mann and her husband Bill all of Texas, and Vera Davis and her husband John of Michigan, three brothers, Alva Hobb of Warsaw, IL , Louis Hobb and his wife Happy of Hamilton, IL and Jim Hobb and his wife Shirlene of Keokuk, IA and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her father, one daughter Barbara Whippie and one brother Stanley Hobb. Rosalie had been employed at Sheller Globe in Keokuk, IA for several years. Her church and her faith were a very important part of her life and she was an active member of the Keokuk Worship Center in Keokuk. She also was a member of the Residents Review Committee at Lexington Square in Keokuk. Rosalie enjoyed collecting bells. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 6 at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Pastor Bill Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the Hickory Grove Cemetery near Keokuk, IA. Visitation will be held after 9 a.m., Monday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with the family meeting with friends from noon until time of service. Memorials may be made to the family.
