Roberta Jackson, 62, of Keokuk, IA, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, IA died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. She was born October 28, 1948 at home in Scotland County, MO the daughter of Charles and Flossie Lane Smith. She was of the Methodist faith. In her younger years she had been employed at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, IA. Roberta enjoyed attending Old Threshers, crocheting afghans, fishing, listening to country music, watching WWE wrestling, football and baseball. She was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals. Roberta liked to meet with her friends at McDonalds for coffee everyday. She enjoyed the companionship of her animals. She is survived by two sons, Jeremy Nichols of Keokuk, IA and Michael Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, IA, one daughter, Peggy Nichols of Keokuk, IA, her long-time companion, Leroy Riley of Keokuk, IA, one sister, Arlean Lucas and her husband Steve of Warsaw, IL, two grandchildren, Bobby Nichols and Jeremy Nichols, Jr., one great-grandchild on the way, several nieces and nephews and cousins, and one aunt Helen Byrn of Warsaw, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Bobby Joe Nichols and one brother, Jimmy Dean Smith. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, December 5, 2010 at the Union Cemetery in Memphis, MO.
