Robert C. Younkin

Robert Curtis Younkin, 89, of Montrose, IA died Saturday, March 10, 2012 at the Ft. Madison Community Hospital in Ft. Madison, IA. He was born on November 12, 1922 in Montrose, IA, the son of Curtis and Iva Megchelsen Younkin. On March 15, 1953, Robert was united in marriage to Elaine Anton in Donnellson, IA. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Douglas Younkin and his wife Martha of Union, MO and Alan Younkin and his wife Sybil of St. Louis, MO, one daughter, Joann Mutch and her husband Don of Macomb, IL, eight grandchildren, Joshua Younkin, Adam Younkin, Michelle Mutch, Morgan (Lainey) Younkin, Hayley Younkin, Leah Younkin, Eric Mutch and Gordon Younkin and one sister, Mary Lu Younkin of Des Moines, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, John Younkin and two sisters, Helen VanAusdall and Margaret Sigmund. Robert graduated from Montrose High School and attended Wheaton College and Iowa State University. He enjoyed farming all his life and living on the farm where he was born and raised. He was a member of the Montrose Presbyterian Church, the St. Barnabas Choir, the Lions Club and the Farm Bureau. He enjoyed spending time with his family and traveling. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 17th 2012 at the Montrose Presbyterian Church with Dr. Jim Eads officiating. Burial was in the Montrose Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Montrose Presbyterian Church.
