Robert E. Young, 62, of Warsaw, IL, died Monday, July 25, 2005 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA. He was born on April 22, 1943 in Burlington, IA, the son of Elmer and Edna GulickYoung. On May 16, 1986, he was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Sapp Devericks in Keokuk, IA. She survives. Robert graduated from Keokuk High School with the Class of 1962. He had been employed at Keokuk Steel Castings as a welder for 22 years and 4 months. He retired in 1992. He loved to travel and go fishing. He was a CB radio enthusiast and used the handle "Fisherman". He also enjoyed using the computer. Other survivors include one daughter, Tammy Young of Keokuk, IA, one son, James Young and his wife Kathy of Burlington, IA, two grandchildren, Zachary Young and Stevie Young, two half-brothers, Lee Meck and his wife Darlene of Burlington, IA, and Bob Meck of Alaska. He was preceded in death by one half-brother, George William "Bill" Meck, his parents, and his step-mother, Edna Young. A memorial service was held at 1:30 p.m., Friday at the Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, IA with Reverend Bill Olmsted officiating. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL. A memorial was established for the American Cancer Society.
