Robert Louis Wood, 82, of Greeley, CO, died Monday, April 11, 2005 at his home. He was born on August 11, 1922 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Louis Frederick and Viola Ellen Atterberg Wood. On April 19, 1949, Robert was united in marriage to Mary Hough Hoerner in Keokuk, IA. She preceded him in death on May 17, 1983. He graduated from Keokuk High School in Keokuk, IA with the Class of 1940. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and proudly served his country during WW II. Robert lived in Donnellson, IA from 1953 – 1969, where he owned and operated Wood Insurance Agency. After his retirement in 1969, he moved to Colorado Springs, CO. He was a member of the Donnellson Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed collecting guns and knives and was an avid follower of the stock market. Robert is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Davis and her husband William of Florissant, MO, and Mary Hough Wood of Castle Rock, CO, two sons, James Frederick Wood of Oakland, CA, and John Louis Wood and his wife Jill of North Haven, CT, seven grandchildren, Amy Pardall, Jennifer Wixom, Jessie Hocker, L.Cpl. Nicholas Hocker, Corydon Wood, Alexander Wood and Jack Wood, and nine great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 16 at the Sandusky Cemetery in rural Keokuk, IA. A Masonic Service was held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A memorial was established for the Donnellson Masonic Lodge.
