Robert "Bob" L. Ward, Jr. 66, of Ft. Madison, IA, died May 3, 2009 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, IA. He was born on August 15, 1942 in Ottumwa, IA the son of Robert L. and Celora J. Edwards Ward. Bob was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles in Ft. Madison. Bob loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, gardening and riding motorcycles. He enjoyed collecting anything and everything. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, being ornery and having fun. Being a dad was his greatest accomplishment and he was proud of all his children. He is survived by two daughters, Diana Bennett of Keokuk, IA, and Stashia Ward Lammers and her husband John of Kirksville, MO, two sons, Shawn Bennett of Keokuk, and Ronald Ward of Ft. Madison, three sisters, Carolyn Ward Derr and her husband Roger of Des Moines, Beth Ward Diaz of Silverdale, WA, Lora Ward Chaney and her husband Rick of Yellville, AR and one brother, Rodney Ward and his wife Karla of Yellville, AR, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Linda Randolph Owen, an infant brother, William Wesley Ward and many friends. Graveside services with military rites were held at 1 p.m. Friday, at the Keokuk National Cemetery, Keokuk, IA. Memorials may be made to the family.
