Robert Eugene Jones, 61, of Keokuk, IA, died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home. He was born September 29, 1948 in Keokuk, IA the son of Robert and Norma Mortimer Jones. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Robert was united in marriage to Connie Manewal in 1970 in Carthage, IL. She survives. He is also survived by two sons, Robert Jones of Keokuk, IA, and Jeffery Jones of Montrose, IA, one brother, Terry Jones and his wife Judy of Keokuk, IA and one sister, Cherie Wilsey and her husband Jim of Keokuk, IA and one granddaughter, Zoe Krome, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law including Randy Manewal of Keokuk who helped care for Robert during his illness and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Timothy Jones, his father, Robert Jones, one sister Janet Egley and his grandparents. He was employed at Steel Castings in Keokuk for 37 years before his retirement. Following his retirement he was employed at Titan Wheel in Quincy, IL for the last 6 years. Robert enjoyed fishing and was an excellent mechanic and enjoyed working on cars. Graveside services with military rites were held at 2:30 P.M. Monday, May 24 at the Keokuk National Cemetery in Keokuk, Iowa. Memorials may be made to the Lee County Hospice.
