Obituary

Robert "Bob" Lee Hedden, 85, of Keokuk, IA, died Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Montrose Health Center in Montrose, IA. He was born on August 5, 1927 in Keokuk, IA, the son of John and Lula Fickel Hedden. He was a veteran of the United States Army and proudly served his country as a Military Police at Fort Gordon. He had been employed at Keokuk Steel Castings for 38 years, retiring in 1987. Bob enjoyed the outdoors, spending time at the river watching the eagles and mowing and taking care of his yard. He was an avid NASCAR and St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching the races and games on TV. His favorite meal was a quarter pounder and coffee at McDonald's. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by two sisters, Mildred Kennedy of Farmington, IA and Veda Rockefeller of Grovetown, GA, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews and great-great nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sister, Roberta Ferguson, his sister, Thelma Shaffer, two brothers, Ernie and Harold Hedden and a great nephew, Roger D. Martens, Jr. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 13, 2012 at the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA with Brother Bill Hauser officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Oakland-Sand Cemetery in Vincennes, IA. Memorials may be made to the New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk, IA.
